When we dream we are often sent signs and codes that we have to decipher in order to garner any kind of meaning and understanding from them. Dreams are not always literal. If dreams are supposed to guide and help us – why is the dream format the way it often is?

I can think of several potential reasons this way of dreams may be the case:

i) The messages are sent to us in code to bypass others that may be filtering and preventing messages being passed from one place (wherever that may be) to Earth.

Perhaps, we are not supposed to receive these messages from our guides or from God/Allah/Jehovah (etc) and the codes intend to cloak a dream’s real intentions to other outsiders, but which the creators know we may be able to make sense of based on our lives and experiences. Could Earth be dominated by evil entities and an outside force is trying to save us from them, or to save us from ourselves and our own corrupted ways. Maybe they prove we are in purgatory, or that Earth and life is not quite everything it appears to be at first glance, and that judgement may come. Either way, they show that our actions on Earth matter to someone or something.

ii) Wouldn’t life be too easy and less of a mystery if we were passed all of the answers?

Dreams and symbols may test our resolve and give us a sense of meaning and accomplishment when we unravel them. The system we live in may sometimes trap us, and the dream acts as something that may re-energise and reinvigorate our lives. Dreams may also be intended to prevent our, or others’, suffering.

iii) To hide from other humans, who do not have faith, clues to the nature of reality.

Dreams are always there communicating with us, but we never look at them because society tells us they are dirty, meaningless, and random. What’s more, we may tell ourselves that there is no greater power because science ‘tells’ us these things are impossible and beyond the pale. Those who are pure and/or have faith, will be passed the messages and rewarded, and may help spread the truth – that we are not alone.

iv) Perhaps those that send the messages are rushed or restrained by their mediums of communication.

When these entities need to tell us a certain street name for example, they must quickly improvise in what is almost like a game of charades.

There must also be some rules which they are following that restrain them/him/her/God/Angels/Spirits/Extra Terrestrials (whichever you prefer to believe). They could ‘break through’ to us via our dreams by sending us the messages from a particular location in space (or elsewhere) which they may only access for a limited period of time before they may be located by others who may not want messages sent to Earth.

We are all brothers and sisters that share this dream experience.
