On my way to the city centre yesterday I was given the idea for this post. Walking past a Filipino restaurant I was suddenly jolted back into full awareness of my surroundings when from their counter I heard: “Order one hundred and eleven is ready!” Could I really write about anything else other than 1111 on November 11th 2021?

There appears to be a hidden intelligence in the world(s) around us that may materialise through synchronicities and other such phenomena, as well as in certain kinds of lucid, sequential and premonitory dreams. Seeing the number 1111 in a meaningful way has many different meanings depending on the thinker’s POV and has been linked to this hidden intelligence. Experiencing numbers repeatedly in our waking lives and dreams has been said to be the result of angels, God(s), parallel universes (think TV show Fringe), simulation theory, spiritual awakenings, messages from our higher selves or daemon, to quote Anthony Peake, or a combination of such factors, as well as other psychological causes.

The number has been given special significance by thinkers such as Solara Antara Amaa-Ra, who constructed a new-age spiritual group and entire cosmology around the digits 11:11 in 1990s California. Uri Geller has also linked the digits to string theory, parallel universes, and important events through history. Today also marks the anniversary of the end of World War One that ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

Having spiritual awakenings spurred by witnessing these numbers can require faith to sustain such views when perhaps the numbers are no longer witnessed as regularly later on. Yet, experiencing the numbers 1111 in a spiritually or religiously significant way is not a prerequisite to seeing this intelligence in our worlds.

I’ll leave with a quote from the Qu’ran, chapter 11, verse 11, which states: ‘Except those who patiently endure and do good. It is they who will have forgiveness and a mighty reward.’
